Welcome Mamas!!!

I am so glad you found this site! Hopefully you stumbled upon it to help you on your journey, at whatever stage you are in!

I started this blog in 2018 as a way of putting what I learn about pregnancy, postpartum, mental health, and motherhood in a place for all moms! I found out I was pregnant right at four weeks and instantly started reading! I now have a wonderful baby boy and continue to push myself to learn everyday how to be a better woman, mother, and wife!

I struggled during pregnancy with being sick and then hurting my back so writing wasn’t something that I did a lot. I got back into writing while I was home with the baby during my 8 week maternity leave. I have continued because surprisingly continue to learn about myself and having a baby!

So here is a little about me! I live in the New Orleans area and have been here for the last 9 years. I moved around a lot growing up, so I consider this my home! I met my husband 5 years ago andI in 2017 we got married! We love to eat, exercise, and travel! One of our goals is to take our family to fun places in the future. The thing that I love most about him is how support and kind he is, he is my number one supporter in everything that I do! He also is the best looking stay at home dad I know! How lucky am I?!

I am a clinical social worker, basically just a fancy way of saying I’m a therapist! I focus on mental health conditions, ranging from anxiety and depression to eating disorders to work and marital stress. I have been working in this field for the last 8 years. It’s a tough job but I love it. I love that people can come in and share their story and we can work on living their best life!

Over the last couple of years I have noticed that one of the most frequent patients I have are moms. They come in and they are lost. They don’t know themselves, because for so long their life has (and/or still is) been about their baby/children. Being a mother is something that I have wished for my whole life. I never knew what I was going to be or what career I wanted. But I always knew I wanted to be a mom. It’s so easy to get sucked into a place that your whole life becomes about your children. And at times it should be, but you and your health (physical and mental!) are also important. This is going to be something that I talk about throughout my own journey (pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood!).

Another reason I wanted to start this blog is because I want to normalize some of the feelings that come with pregnancy and being a parent. Thoughts and feelings can make some moms struggle with fear of stigma. Feeling like asking for help makes them a failure as a mom. Let’s not do this anymore! Let’s learn how to be open to our emotions throughout this process. To be welcoming and open to them!

Lastly I want to talk about fun stuff too! I want to talk about gear and knick knacks. I want to talk about fitness and food. I want to talk about how to still love your partner when they seem clueless! Life isn’t all serious, so we need to talk about the fun stuff too!! I can’t wait to interact with you all! I love this stuff and want to help others during their journey! Drop a comment if you want to see something on the blog! Happy reading mamas!
